Please print a copy of this page for your records. Submission of the online Trip Sign Up Form becomes a binding agreement to the terms outlined below.

Our trips offer the adventurous traveler an opportunity to experience the spectacular Copper Canyon back country. They are "off the beaten path" itineraries and should be taken with a spirit of adventure. Maximum elevation is slightly over 8,000 feet. There are few phones in the canyons or means of rapid evacuation. Variables can cause unexpected train delays or cancellations for which Santiago James Barnaby and La Cooperativa de los Guias are not responsible.

PAYMENTS: A non-refundable deposit of $500 per person is required to confirm your reservations and is due 14 days after booking. Final payment is due 60 days prior to departure. Please mark your calendar; we do not invoice for balance due. If balance of payment has not been received and we have not been contacted, we reserve the right to assume cancellation. Your deposit will be forfeited and the time slot will be filled from our waiting list.
Prices and specifications are subject to change without notice. Payments can be made by personal check or money order or you may choose to use a credit card via the PayPal secure web site. (All non U.S. Paypal users must set up their free PayPal account prior to using the payment button below).

TRIP INSURANCE: We strongly urge all travelers to purchase trip cancellation, baggage, medical, and/or emergency evacuation insurance. Unforeseen circumstances can change travel plans, baggage may be lost or damaged, and some medical insurance (including Medicare) will not provide coverage abroad. For a modest price, protection can be provided for these and other concerns. Insurance may be purchased through your travel agent or online at the Travelex secure web site.

CANCELLATIONS POLICY:
If cancellation by trip participant is received:

  • 60 days or more before departure a $200 per person cancellation fee will apply
  • 21-59 days before departure, $400 per person fee
  • 8-20 days before departure, $500 per person fee
  • 7 days or less before departure, $750 per person fee
  • No refunds for no shows or for unused services
  • All refunds must be requested in writing.

Santiago reserves the right to cancel any scheduled "packaged" trip if the minimum number of travellers has not signed up 60 days before departure. You will be contacted to discuss alternatives, including the possibility of accepting a surcharge for operating the trip with less than the minimum, or you may be offered cheaper ground transport options to keep our costs down. We are never able to predict if this situation will arise and we will do everything possible to accommodate the travellers who remain interested in the dates scheduled.

RESERVATIONS CHANGES will be considered on a case by case basis. If the change(s) can be made then a surcharge of $50 per person will apply.

CHILDREN'S RATES: Under 12 years old, please inquire.

REFUNDS: After a trip commences, no refunds will be made for any reason whatsoever, including changes of hotel, shortened stay, etc. No credits or refunds will be given for unused services.

NOTES:

  • Tour rates do not include the 180 peso tourist tax, paid at all border crossings by land. (~$20 US)
  • Tour rates provide for arrangements only for the time stated.
  • Baggage and personal effects are the sole responsibility of the owner at all times.
  • Reasonable changes in itinerary may be made where deemed advisable for the comfort, safety, and well-being of travelers.
  • The right is reserved to decline to accept or to retain any person as a member of any tour.

  1. have read and understood this document.
  2. agree to abide by the terms set forth in this document.
  3. agree to assume responsibility for any risks related to travel on this tour.
  4. have been advised to purchase trip insurance.
  5. If I choose not to purchase insurance it is understood that I will be liable for all costs in the event of cancellation, trip delays, loss or damage to baggage, and medical emergencies howsoever caused.
